HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) is pleased to announce he was recently appointed to serve on the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee for the remainder of the 2023-24 Legislative Session.

“My entire life I have lived in the anthracite coal region of Schuylkill County and have worked the majority of my career in the energy industry,” said Barton. “I am truly passionate about energy and environmental resources and cannot wait to apply my real-life experiences to this committee. I am grateful to have been appointed by Republican leadership and look forward to serving.”

Barton’s energy industry experience includes the past 34 years of his career in the energy industry as the vice president of Jack Rich Inc. Additionally, he serves on the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association board of directors and is a member of the Anthracite Region Independent Power Producers Association and the Berks/Schuylkill Oil Dealers Association. Barton served on CITGO Petroleum’s Marketer Council from 2016-19.

At the start of the current session Barton was named to the following committees: Housing and Community Development, State Government, and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development.

Standing committees are a cornerstone of the legislative process. All bills are assigned to a committee to undergo review. Committees may hold hearings on legislation, consider amendments to pending bills and report them to the full House for a vote.
