Barton to Hold Event to Thank the 124th’s Farmers, Bless the Balers

LENHARTSVILLE - Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) is hosting a breakfast for the 124th Legislative District’s farmers to show Berks and Schuylkill counties’ appreciation for their hard work to help put food on our tables. Immediately preceding the breakfast, Barton is organizing a Blessing of the Balers to pray for a safe, productive and prosperous planting season.

The Blessing of the Balers will take place Thursday, May 1, at 8:30 a.m. at C.J. Hummels Restaurant in Lenhartsville. Breakfast will be served afterward. Following breakfast, Barton will be joined by Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding to answer questions about state issues relating to agriculture.

“Our farmers are some of the hardest-working people in the nation,” Barton said. “Their hard work is the reason the rest of us have food on our tables. It’s great to get the chance to return the favor and give the farmers a warm meal to thank them for all they do for us. Before we eat, we’ll gather in prayer for a little help from Mother Nature to make sure their fields get the proper amount of rain, and ask for the safety of our farmers as they work to feed our communities and our Commonwealth.”
