Barton, Gebhard Announce Funding for Hamburg Fire Company
March 18, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Barton (R-124) and Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48) announced a state grant of nearly $82,000 has been awarded to Union Fire Company No. 1 of Hamburg.
The funding will be used to purchase new vehicle rescue tools to remove accident victims from entrapment. The current fire rescue tools used by Union Fire Company are 35 years old. The new rescue tools will enable fire responders to perform rescues more effectively, without concern for possible failure, minimize the potential for accident victim death or permanent injury, and help keep the firefighters safe.
“When a car crash occurs, we depend on our first responders to come to our aid,” Barton said. “But they need to have dependable tools to be able to do their jobs properly. This funding doesn’t just benefit Union Fire Company; it also benefits every single driver who makes their way through Hamburg.”
“I was proud to support this funding,” Gebhard said. “Our first responders put themselves on the line every day to protect our communities. When serious car accidents happen, they need the proper lifesaving tools and equipment to respond quickly and help those in need.”
This funding is being awarded through the Local Share Account (LSA), which is funded through gaming revenues.
