Barton: More than $593,000 in Natural Gas Impact Fees Awarded to 124th District

June 18, 2026

TAMAQUA – Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) announced Berks and Schuylkill counties will receive a combined $593,000 in impact fees from the natural gas industry.

Impact fees are levied in addition to regular business taxes paid by every corporation in Pennsylvania. The disbursements were established in 2012 to ensure communities affected by drilling receive their fair share of funding for projects such as road and bridge repairs, housing and other infrastructure needs.

“Impact fees help balance the benefits of natural gas development with the real world needs of the communities we live in,” Barton said. “They bring in funds for public safety, infrastructure, and environmental work without putting extra pressure on local taxpayers. It’s a practical approach to keep both our energy industry and our communities strong.”

A complete list of disbursements to counties and municipalities is available on the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s website at puc.state.pa.us.
